For months I've been asking Lucy if she wants to get her hair cut and every time the response has something to do how she needs her hair to stay long like "Tangled". My counter argument usually entails how Rapunzel cut her hair at the end of the movie and she looked so pretty! "No!" she says, then runs away. Well, this particular Saturday I was able to convince her and she happily agreed! My almost four year old has never had a real haircut before and I think it was about time. That scraggly mess was just getting too long to brush and the squeals/screams/dramatics from me doing her hair were getting old. Fast.
I was actually this close to having her get a bob haircut, giving just enough length of hair to donate. But there was a certain someone (*cough* Alex) who would have had a little less than unhappy reaction. He loves the long locks on his ladies. :)
It's a perfect length for a perfect little lady. Definitely wont be waiting another four years until we cut it again. I can't imagine trying to tame that wild mane!

My Little Ballerina
Since high school, I've dreamed of having a little girl in ballet. I couldn't wait to dress her up and neatly tuck her hair away into a little bun.
Lucy just finished her first ballet/tap class yesterday! It was such a joy to see her in there stretching her little legs and practicing her pliés.
There were (several) moments where the teacher had to remind Lucy to listen and to participate. After all, she was one of the youngest and this is her first organized class of any kind. But overall, she did a fantastic job and she looked forward to "dancing school" every week! We start another section of dance next week. This time it is going to be a ballet/creative dance class... Lucy really didn't like tap dancing on account she was scared she was going to slip and fall. :)
this is a little 40 sec video of Lucy doing some pliés

What's in a Name
I had one long name growing up - "Janet...Ladell...Steven...Ronnie...SHAUNA"! I never understood why in the world my mom couldn't get my name right the first time. She always seemed to list off three or four other names before finally reaching my name.
Well, now I understand. I always do it to Lucy. I'll accidentally call her by the names of my twin sisters... Laura or Teeny (Christina). I always correct myself quickly and I don't think she really ever notices or even understands anyways... until this morning.
After finishing off her morning milk, she ran over to the sink and threw her cup in.
"Thank you Laura...Lucy"
She responds, "Thank you Teeny....Mommy"
My eyes immediately filled with tears from laughing so hard.
What a little smartie pants! She's not even 3 yet!

Birthday Celebration
We started off Todd's birthday celebration by going out to lunch to a place called Fritz's. There they have trains deliver your food to you instead of a waiter. The kids were mesmerized the whole time!
Lunch was followed by a trip to Deana Rose Children's Farmstead where Lucy rode a pony (for the first time!), the kids fed the animals, and got to see a cow being milked! The best part about this place was that it was all free! :)
It was getting close to bed time by the time we got home. We hurried and had dinner so we could have cake and open presents! Todd was surprisingly cleaner than I expected. I think he was too tired to really dig in.
Lucy trying to sneak a piece...
We celebrated Todd's birthday with just the four of us. It was low key and lots of fun. Lucy probably had the most fun out of all of us... I don't think she'd mind if we celebrated Todd's birthday all the time!

Dry Spell
There are some weeks where I can hardly keep up with posts, and there are other weeks where I don't really have anything to post or don't really feel like it. This is one of those weeks.
It's been pretty low key around here.
I'm actually taking an online workshop right now.... so that is taking up a lot of my time and most of my thoughts. (I'm totally loving this class!!)
I'll be back to my normal blogging self soon :)

Just the Two of Us
Lately, Lucy has really been begging for special attention. She gets jealous so easily when we pay attention to Todd.
Her solution? Steal his binki, crawl around on the floor, and pretty much mimic everything that Todd does... including playing in the toilet.
My solution? Have a little mother-daughter morning... just the two of us.
We listened to Winnie the Pooh in the car (on tape-cassete).
made a stop at the post office
next was the library
then the park
and we finished it off with lunch at Wendy's
Not even a cute little Todd could get in the way of our special relationship. :)
