What We've Been Up To
*Along with Alex getting in to the U of A medical school, I got accepted to the U of A School of Art!! I'll be finishing up my degree in Studio Art, emphasizing in photography. When Alex got accepted, I only had about two days to pull together a portfolio and submit it. It was a total long shot for me, so when I got accepted I was shocked but soooo excited! U of A's art program is amazing!
*Lucy is potty trained! Finally! Sound the trumpets! Throw the confetti!
*We found a couple of bike seats for the kids to attach to our bikes at a thrift store. We've had so much fun going out in the evening on a family bike ride. The kids love it!! And it seems the rest of Tucson comes out in the evening as well to get some fresh air from being inside all day, escaping the heat.
*Todd, being the boy that he is, has already fallen and bashed in his front tooth. Blood everywhere. What are we going to do with this kid? No matter the precautions we take, he always finds some way to hurt himself.
*We've been really enjoying this month of not having much to do (aside from getting situated in our new place). We're taking advantage of it the best we can before the craziness of school starts for both of us.

Memorial Day Concert
I'm slowly catching up here...
We went to a free Memorial Day concert in Kansas City while my parents were in town. It was out in front of Union Station and there were tons and tons of people there! The Kansas City Symphony put on the concert. Truly amazing! After the concert, there was a spectacular fireworks show in which the Symphony performed during it. People had been camping out all day waiting for the show to start. We got there about halfway through the concert... the only place for us to sit was in a "NO SEATING" area. We pretty much got the best seat in town. I felt guilty for a little bit, especially because the people behind us had been waiting there for hours. We made sure to stay low to the ground and out of their way the best we could. :)
A great way to end our chapter in Kansas City.

We had such memorable time with my parents in Nauvoo back in May.
Here is a quick look at the fun we had!

In Case You're Wondering...
...yes, we are alive!
It sure has been a wild ride for the last month. A 22 hour drive to AZ, house hunting, drive to CA, family, family, family, and now we're back in Tuscon! With just a few more boxes to unpack, we're that much closer to getting back to a normal life. Once things finally settle, there will be a whole slew of posts! So stay tuned...

Here We Go Again!
Some of you know already, but we're moving again! I know, I know... we just moved to Kansas City six months ago. But the opportunity presented itself and we couldn't pass it up.
We're moving to TUCSON, AZ!
Alex got accepted to the University of Arizona (!!!!), and after lots of thinking, praying and planning, we know that Arizona is the right place for us. He starts medical school on Aug 1st. We're in the middle of packing right now and plan on moving out there this next week. Crazy! But it's the right fit for our family and we couldn't be happier!
So long Missouri (you've been good to us and we've made some amazing friends)...

What's in a Name
I had one long name growing up - "Janet...Ladell...Steven...Ronnie...SHAUNA"! I never understood why in the world my mom couldn't get my name right the first time. She always seemed to list off three or four other names before finally reaching my name.
Well, now I understand. I always do it to Lucy. I'll accidentally call her by the names of my twin sisters... Laura or Teeny (Christina). I always correct myself quickly and I don't think she really ever notices or even understands anyways... until this morning.
After finishing off her morning milk, she ran over to the sink and threw her cup in.
"Thank you Laura...Lucy"
She responds, "Thank you Teeny....Mommy"
My eyes immediately filled with tears from laughing so hard.
What a little smartie pants! She's not even 3 yet!

The Ellis Sanders House
While in Nauvoo, we stayed at the Ellis Sanders Bed and Breakfast. Staying in this home just added to the whole atmosphere and really enhanced our experience. What was special about this little quaint house was that Joseph Smith actually stayed in the basement while in hiding. It was special to have walked where the prophet had walked and stay where he had stayed. Lucy couldn't wait to get back after a long day to sleep in her "big girl blue bed"!
